How do we know if impact has occurred?

A collaboration with Nesta

Collecting evidence of impact is an important step towards figuring out which material positive and negative effects are occurring, before making decisions to improve the experience of people and planet. Making sure the evidence we use is reliable is therefore an important part of impact management.

In 2013, Nesta developed a set of Standards of Evidence for impact investing to help them do this, building off numerous academic examples such as the Maryland Scale and Project Oracle.

This downloadable PDF provides guidance on both using existing evidence of impact, and building a new evidence base.
