Looking Back at Emerging Consensus about Impact Goals

Through this project, people around the world have been sharing their understanding of impact – and therefore insight into how we can talk about our impact goals in way that everyone understands.

The emerging consensus is that impact goals have five dimensions:

What outcomes does the effect relate to, and how important are they?

How significant is the effect?

Who experiences the effect?

How does the effect compare and contribute to what is currently available?

How likely is the outcome different than the expectation?

By expressing these fundamental dimensions whenever we talk about impact, we can understand each other and work better together.
